The Lexus LX was the company's very first SUV sold in the United States, with the first units released on January 15, 1996.
Year-to-year changes[edit | edit source]
1996[edit | edit source]
The original Lexus LX featured a standard 4.5-liter V6 engine with 212 horsepower, 4-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. Not many changes were made for 1997.
1998[edit | edit source]
The LX 450 was renamed to the LX 470, hence the upgrade to a 4.7-liter V8 engine with 230 horsepower, which remained until 2002, while the car itself sold through 2007.
