Introduced in 1984 was Mercedes-Benz's original compact entry-level luxury car, the 190-Class. A new 2.6-liter engine sedan was introduced in 1987.

The new entry level 190-Class sedan came with 130 horsepower and a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. This car remained a carryover for 1992 and 1993.
The last of Mercedes-Benz's 190-Class sedans went on sale in April 1993. It was replaced by the C-Class for 1994.
