The Pontiac Sunbird's third generation cars first went on sale in 1988.
Year-to-year changes[edit | edit source]
1991[edit | edit source]
The 1991 model year had these trim levels: base, LE, SE and GT for the 2-door coupe, base and LE 4-door sedans, and an LE 2-door convertible.
1992[edit | edit source]
The base trim level was removed. The LE convertible now became an SE, and a new SE sedan joined the lineup.
1993[edit | edit source]
The 3.1-liter V6 engine became an option for all LE and SE models with standard 4-cylinder engines.
1994[edit | edit source]
The GT coupe and SE sedan were discontinued for one year, and the SE convertible was reverted back to being an LE convertible. In addition, due to the discontinuation of the subcompact LeMans, the Sunbird was now the entry-level car only for this model year, before it was replaced by the Sunfire in 1995.
